March Curriculum Theme: Reading Rainbow
Looking Forward
March is National Reading Month, and we are celebrating here at Phase by highlighting some authors who contributed greatly to children’s literature. Our theme Reading Rainbow will feature Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, Lois Ehlert, Leo Lionni and James and Kimberly Dean. Books by these authors will not only inspire our classroom learning but also our enrichment lessons.
Looking Back
In the month of February, we learned about various community helpers during our Hometown Helpers theme. From doctors to construction workers, we explored through various activities the many occupations in our community. The theme of community helpers inspired our enrichment lessons as well. In STEM, we became architects and drew pictures of houses then became construction workers to use our pictures to build houses out of Legos and blocks.
In February we also celebrated the 100th day of school, Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. To honor influential African Americans during Black History Month, we highlighted two people each week and did an activity related to that person’s contribution to America’s history.
